Bad news first – Eastbluff homes as well as other surrounding communities in Newport Beach are in the departure path of John Wayne Airport. Over the years, a variety of tactics have been implemented by the FAA to minimize the noise of launching aircraft. For years, jets have reduced engine thrust until over the ocean in an effort to minimize the initial noise impact for the communities below. Currently, the Mayor of Newport Beach, Keith Curry, is petitioning the FAA to alter the standard departing flight path of all commercial airlines that utilize the airport so that jet-related noise can be muffled even further. For the most part, residents of Eastbluff, while aware of the noise, overwhelmingly report that it is not a major nuisance and that after a short period of time, becomes almost unnoticeable.
On the positive side, Eastbluff is centrally located to a multitude of high-end shopping centers and eateries. To the west, Eastbluff is near walking distance to Fashion Island and only a few miles drive to the Newport peninsula and it’s beaches. You will never be at a loss for things to do, you’ll never be far from fine food and shopping, and your children will be safe and well-educated.
