Located right on the border of Newport Beach and Irvine sits University of California Irvine.  UC Irvine has become a well respected school and it is a large part of the local community.  Today it was announced that President Obama will be addressing the 2014 graduating class at the ceremony to be held at Angel Stadium this June.

Regardless of one's political inclinations, as Americans it is a great honor to have the President of the United States speak at your graduation.  Other universities that have received the same honor include: President Obama at Notre Dame in 2009, President Bush at Ohio State in 2002 President Bush at Yale in 2001, President Clinton at Princeton in 1996 President Clinton at Dartmouth in 1995 and President Bush at the California Institute of Technology (Cal-Tech) in 1991 just to name a few.

As a UCI alum (class of '99) I am proud that my alma mater has received such an honor.
